Waste In Sight, Placed Right

ME290H: GREEN PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Overview
There is a significant opportunity to alter the way we treat food waste in order to reduce pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and in turn create a more sustainable world. The goal of this course is to develop innovative solutions to reduce food waste and its associated impacts throughout the food ecosystem life cycle. Our team used a wealth of design methodologies in tandem with heavy research on the pressing issues facing consumers, restaurant owners, and the government regarding food waste in the restaurant industry to first establish an important problem to solve. This process is outlined in Phase 1 - Phase 3. After this work, we generated a number of potential solutions to the problem we chose, and downselected based on a number of weighted criteria and feedback from stakeholders of the product. Ultimately, we devised an extremely potent solution to a very clear issue in this realm, identified in Phase 4.
